Calendar of Projects & Activities

We believe that building a more sustainable future starts with strong communities. Through hands-on workshops, intergenerational activities, and community outreach programmes, we engage seniors, students, families, and residents in meaningful conversations and actions around sustainability. From running regular upcycling workshops in THKMC Active Ageing Centres to participating in awareness campaigns, roadshows, and community events, we create opportunities for people of all ages to learn, connect, and contribute towards a more circular and environmentally conscious society.

Indian Women's Association Festive Bazaar 2026

It was great to be part of the IWA Festive Bazaar, organised by the Indian Women’s Association (IWA) Singapore on 11 September at Suntec City Convention & Exhibition Centre. For this Bazaar, we created some new products from pre-loved school uniforms - this time with a cultural and intergenerational twist. We explored the idea of bringing different generations together in one product: school uniform fabric from a student, combined with fabric or elements contributed by a mother or grandmother. Pieces therefore came with its own little story, while showing once again how school uniforms can be creatively repurposed and kept in circulation for longer. It was also wonderful to be part of an event organised by IWA, a non-profit organisation that brings women and the wider community together through social, cultural and community activities. Proceeds from its bazaars support IWA’s activities as well as a number of causes and organisations in Singapore, including Beyond Social Services, H.O.M.E., TWC2 and SWAMI Home, and educational scholarships and awards. We were pleased to welcome Ms Sudhi Choudhary, Deputy High Commissioner of India in Singapore, as Guest of Honour. Thank you to IWA for having us, and to everyone who stopped by our booth, had a chat and discovered what can be made from pre-loved school uniforms.

Greenwave at Pasir Ris

On 29 August 2026, The Circular Classroom joined GreenWave 2026 at Pasir Ris Town Square, a community event that brought together young people, families, schools and sustainability partners for a day of learning, creativity and action. Under the theme “Building a Sustainable Future Starts with Our Young,” GreenWave highlighted how sustainability can become part of everyday life through practical experiences and community participation. The programme featured an Electric Car Challenge, where young participants raced electric toy vehicles and explored greener mobility, as well as an Upcycling Fashion Show that demonstrated how creativity can give materials a new life. Visitors could also explore a range of Eco-Living Booths, discover local green initiatives and pick up practical ideas for more sustainable living. The Circular Classroom was delighted to be part of the Eco-Living Booths, where we shared our work around circularity, textile waste and the reuse and repurposing of pre-loved school uniforms. Through our activities and displays, we encouraged visitors to think differently about materials that are often discarded and to see the possibilities of extending their useful life. We were very happy to welcome at our booth Pasir Ris-Changi Grassroots Advisers Ms Indranee Thurai Rajah, Minister, Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for National Development, and Mr Desmond Tan, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office, as well as Mr Sharael Taha and Ms Valerie Lee, Advisers to Pasir Ris-Changi GRC Grassroots Organisations. They attended the community celebration alongside participating schools and organisations. Events such as GreenWave show how sustainability education can move beyond awareness to hands-on action. Small choices - reusing what we already have, reducing waste and finding creative ways to keep materials in circulation - can collectively make a meaningful difference. Thank you to the organisers of GreenWave 2026 for bringing the community together and giving us the opportunity to be part of this inspiring day.

The Circular Classroom to Participate in SGH Campus Green Event 2026

The Circular Classroom is looking forward to partnering with the Greening Oncology Up and Down (GROUND) Sustainability Office at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) for the SGH Campus Green Event 2026, a campus-wide sustainability event that brings together institutions across the SingHealth ecosystem. Held on 22 July 2026 at SingHealth Tower, this year's event is themed ""GreenFest 2026: Change Starts with You – Practising the 5Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose, Refuse)"". Participating institutions include SingHealth HQ, Singapore General Hospital (SGH), National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS), National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Singapore Children's Hospital (SCH), and SingHealth Polyclinics (SHP). The event will also feature educational and activity booths by external partners such as CORA, NEA, ISS, Oasis HCA Hospice, The Salvation Army, and other organisations championing sustainability and community engagement. As part of the event, The Circular Classroom will host an information booth showcasing circular solutions for textile waste and sustainable consumption. In collaboration with the GROUND Sustainability Office, we will repurpose retired healthcare uniforms into appreciation gifts for participants, demonstrating how materials can be given a meaningful second life instead of being discarded. The collaboration highlights how healthcare institutions integrate circular economy principles into their sustainability efforts while engaging staff and stakeholders in practical environmental action. We look forward to contributing to the SGH Campus Green Event and sharing how creative reuse can support a more sustainable future.

Stitch & Switch - Beatty Secondary School, Toa Payoh West CC and The Circular Classroom

Beatty Secondary School, Toa Payoh West Community Centre

On 6 June 2026, The Circular Classroom was happy to partner with Beatty Secondary School and Toa Payoh West Community Club for "Stitch & Switch: Transforming Old into Gold", an intergenerational sustainability workshop that brought students and community members together through creativity and purpose. Around 20 participants, comprising Beatty Secondary School students and residents from the community, spent the afternoon learning how pre-loved textiles can be transformed into useful everyday items. Working side by side, they created drawstring bags and coasters while exploring the importance of reducing waste and extending the lifespan of materials through reuse and repurposing. More than just a crafting session, the workshop provided a meaningful opportunity for different generations to connect and to show that with a little creativity and collaboration, old materials can be transformed into something valuable.
