For the second consecutive year, The Circular Classroom collaborated with the English Department at Beatty Secondary School on a sustainability-focused learning journey that empowered students to turn environmental awareness into practical action. The programme engaged 21 Secondary 2 students in exploring the Singapore Green Plan, sustainable living practices and the principles of recycling and upcycling. Over four hands-on sessions, students co-created pencil cases made of their pre-loved school uniforms and learnt basic techniques of hand and machine sewing. Through the process of making, repairing and repurposing, they discovered that sustainability can be both practical and rewarding. We were grateful for the support of the school's sign language interpreters, whose expertise helped ensure that the sessions were accessible and inclusive for students who were hard of hearing. Their support enabled all participants to engage fully in the learning experience and contribute confidently to the activities.
