We collaborated again with Tampines Meridian Junior College (TMJC) - this time with the JC's Makers Club. 25 students transformed their pre-loved TMJC uniforms into pouches and gained first experiences with hands-on repurposing and machine sewing. The TMJC project also blended creativity with technology: together with the teachers in charge for the Makers Club, we developed ideas and effectively executed a large-scale, interactive artwork made entirely of pre-loved school uniforms. The artwork features a functional QR code meticulously crafted from up-cycled TMJC fabrics. When scanned, the QR code links to the Singapore Green Plan website www.gogreen.gov.sg to amplify the message of sustainability. Additionally using small scraps of uniform fabric, students sewed individual flowers that, when assembled, spelled out the school’s initials in its colors, creating a decorative centerpiece. This tech-textile fusion highlights the TMJC's and The Circular Classroom's commitment to environmental consciousness and action through innovation and design.
