"My Green Uniform" Sustainability Programme at Bendemeer Primary School February & March 2024
Type:
Dates:
01 Feb 2024 - 21 Feb 2024
Participating Schools:
The programme "My Green Uniform" is an opportunity for applied and experiential learning that strengthens students’ understanding of sustainability and encourages and nurtures their sustainable consumption behaviours. By repurposing their own school uniforms, students also build up self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment as they showcase their skills and creativity. In February and March 2024, The Circular Classroom partnered with Bendemeer Primary School and conducted sustainability workshops for students from level P3 to level P5. The students created sling bags and pouches made of their pre-loved school uniforms. Most of them experienced the various steps of textile repurposing for the first time - from tracing and fabric cutting, to machine sewing, decorating and fixing buttons. Next to training their basic life-style skills and learning about sustainable textiles, students could also win prizes durning the knowledge quiz, including a little cotton plant as first prize!
