In collaboration with 40 students from Chongzheng Primary School’s Green Club, The Circular Classroom and the Green Club’s Eco Warriors were able to turn their preloved school uniforms into useful sling phone holders. In this hands-on sustainability workshop, the students repurposed their preloved uniforms into a functional and stylish pouch, giving the textile a second life. Using cardboard cut-outs, they carefully traced and cut fabric panels, pinned them together, and—under close adult supervision—took turns on the sewing machine. For many, it was their first time learning how to sew. They can now share their hard work with their families and use it to inspire friends about repurposing textile waste. They now have the basic sewing skills to develop a more creative and sustainable approach to textile waste through hands-on learning and education.
