While studying her Bachelors of Science (Economics) at the Singapore Management University (SMU). Hasmitha interned at The Circular Classroom. Being a member of the university's Green Club (SMU-Verts), her internship with us gave her an opportunity to dive even deeper into sustainability issues. • What were the most valuable lessons you learned during your internship with us? ⁠One of the most important lessons I have learnt is that nothing is trash. Everything can be reused, recycled or repurposed into something new! • How did your experience with us shape your understanding of sustainability and education? ⁠The hands-on projects and discussions on sustainability helped me see the real-world impact of sustainable practices in education. It broadened my perspective on how education can be a powerful tool for promoting sustainability. • Share one memorable moment or project you worked on during your time with us! ⁠One memorable project was the ITE ‘Sew’athon. It was fun to coordinate the event, and I was impressed by the creativity and thoughtfulness of the ITE students. Their innovative designs and the stories behind each product were inspiring to witness. • What advice would you give to future interns joining? Don’t hesitate to ask questions and take initiative, because that is when you learn the most! • What skills or experiences from this internship do you believe will be most beneficial in your future career? ⁠One of the most significant skills I've honed is my communication. I've learned how to tailor my communication style to suit different situations and platforms, which is essential in the everyday context as well.
